November 2025 Education -
Bro. Bill Stark will be speaking about Solomon's Shamir. The philosophy behind the legend of the Shamir ties in nicely with ours. Here is a brief overview of that relationship.
The legend of Solomon's Shamir - a mystical worm or force capable of shaping stone without human tools - symbolically aligns with the philosophy of Freemasonry through its emphasis on transformation, moral refinement, and the power of divine wisdom over brute force. In both traditions, true building is understood as an inner process: the Shamir represents the enlightened knowledge or spiritual truth that refines the rough stone into a perfect one, just as Masons seek to perfect their own character throughdiscipline, insight and moral labour.
